The People

Welcome to my blog, this is about ordinary people who do extra ordinary things. People who are an example through the way they live(d) their own lives. They are not perfect, but I appreciate the little good they have done and what I have learnt from them.

Tetu Kenga

This beautiful girl pictured captured my heart, at only 7years old, Tetu Kenga bore the burden of carrying a 20litre Jerrycan of water on her head. At that age, such a load is too much. I know I wouldn't handle it. Sometimes I have to go buy water at the supermarket and it's a real challenge for me to try and balance 9liters on each arm. Tetu Kenga is one of the millions of children in the Bottom Billion world who have to follow the grown ups to go search for water. Water remains a basic requirement in our lives that not everyone has access to. Access to clean water still remains a dream to many people around the world. As an Engineer, I hope and pray that I may help children like Tetu and their communities get access to clean drinking water.

Actually the father stopped sending her for water when Ngilu promised to bring water to their small village. I wonder if she finally did it or it was one of the political empty promises.
